Best Beaches of Phuket
There are loads of nice beaches all around Phuket, so are very popular and busy and others are harder to get do, with no access by car. Some of the most popular beaches to stay in Phuket include Patong Beach and Karon Beach.
Patong Beach is the busiest beach in Phuket with loads of hotels, restaurants and the famous nightlife along Bangla Road.
Karon Beach (pictured right) still has a good choice of beach resorts and hotels as well as restaurants and bars but Karon Beach is a lot more relaxed and easy going. You can get a taxi from Karon Beach to Patong Beach in around 15 – 20 minutes so easy enough to go to experience the busier beach if you so choose.
Some other beaches worth visiting or even staying at include Bangtao Beach, Surin Beach, Kamala Beach or Kata Beach.
The Big Buddha
The Big Buddha is one of Phukets most popular tourist attractions after the beaches. The Big Buddha is the biggest Buddha statue in Thailand, located at Old Phuket. The Big Buddha is located onto of a hill with great views over Phuket and out to the many islands off the coast. It takes around 45 minutes by car from Patong Beach to get to The Big Buddha. Entrance to see the Big Buddha is free of charge.
Water sports in Phuket
There are so many water sports available in Phuket. The watersports in Phuket includes parasailing, jet ski hire, kite surfing, paddle boards, banana boat rides, sailing, wind surfing.
Jet ski scams- there are some scams going with hiring jet skis in Phuket. The dodgy operators cover existing scratches with water based paints. When you take the jet ski for a ride the paint comes off and when you return the jet ski they try to charge you extra for the damage. Please check any jet ski you take out for fresh paint before you agree to hire the jet ski.
