Koh Phangan is a beautiful island in the Gulf of Thailand just 1 hour by ferry from Koh Samui. Koh Phangan has become famous for the wild full moon parties held on the beach. These full moon parties are held every month during the full moon as well as one of the largest parties on New Years Eve with as many as 50,000 people partying on the beach.

There is a lot more to Koh Phangan to the full moon parties. Koh Phangan is one of the most beautiful tropical islands in Thailand with lots of quiet, secluded white sandy beaches, lush rainforests and hills and treks to explore.

There are yoga retreats and Buddhist meditation retreats where you can escape the hectic world that you come from and just relax.

Thong Sala is the main town on Koh Phangan and where the ferry pier is located. There are lots of hotels located within Koh Phangan as well as a great choice of restaurants and places to eat. There are also lots of hotels and resorts scattered around the island, many in nice quiet areas with quiet beaches to get away from the crowds of Thong Sala, especially around full full moon time when the crowds flock for the full moon party. Sunsets Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan has some of the most amazing sunsets. If you are staying on the western side of the island make sure you sit back and enjoy the stunning sunsets over the Gulf of Thailand. If you are not staying on that side of the island then get over there at the end of the day, go to one of the bars or restaurants on the beach, grab yourself a cocktail and sit back and enjoy

Scuba diving and snorkeling are some of the most popular water activites available on Koh Phangan. There are plenty of qualified PADI dive shops where you can dire scuba equipment or complete the PADI dive courses. There is heaps of marine life to see under the water with lots of different types of soft and hard corals and heaps of different species of fish. Some of the large marine animals you will see around Kooh Phangan are sea turtles, sting rays, white tip reef sharks, moral eels. Ferry to Koh Phangan Thailand

You can get a ferry to Koh Phangan from Koh Samui, Koh Tao or from Surat Thani or Chumphong. The ferry from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan takes around 1 hour. You can then catch a ferry from Koh Phangan to Koh Tao in around 1.5 hours. The closest airport is on Koh Samui.
